Phnom Penh, February 10, 2026: Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet affirmed that the people and territory are the top priority of the Cambodian government amid the Thai army destroying Cambodian homes, installing barbed wire and multiple containers, and continuing illegal occupation of some Cambodian areas along the border.

Speaking at a ceremony on February 10, 2026, with 12th-grade students who received A grades, the Cambodian leader emphasized that the Cambodia–Thailand border is protected under international law, particularly the United Nations Charter. “Cambodia must absolutely protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity both now and in the future, using all means in accordance with international law,” he strongly declared.

He also stressed that Cambodia absolutely does not recognize any illegal alteration of border lines or territorial occupation that violates international law or involves the use of force. He further reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of border issues with Thailand, based on international law, bilateral agreements, and the role of the Joint Border Commission (JBC) in conducting boundary demarcation and measurements.
