Archaeologists in Peru discover mummy thought to be up to 1,200 years old

Archaeologists in Peru have unearthed a well-preserved mummy that could be at least 800 years old.
This pre-Incan mummy was discovered at the archaeological complex of Cajamarquilla, located east of Lima, and is thought to be from the pre-Inca Chaclla culture.
The mummy could be between 800 to 1,200 years old, with futher carbon dating on the discovery to be carried out.
Archaeologists found the mummy in fetal position and tied with ropes in an oval underground funerary structure.
The mummy was surrounded by various offering materials, such as pots, ceramics and gourds containing botanical remains.
According to local media, archaeologists hope this discovery will shed new light on the Chaclla culture.
