Dressed in a silver snakeskin outfit and wearing his trademark cowboy boots, Alain Robert who is better known as French Spiderman climbed up a 39-storey Frankfurt skyscraper on Tuesday (November 23) without a rope or other technical assistance.

Following his successful climb which lasted 42 minutes, Robert told reporters he wanted to raise awareness for climate change.

He called the result of the recent United Nations COP 26 Glasgow climate summit "disappointing" and said it was governments which took deforestation decisions "and not Mr. and Mrs. Aborigine who is going to say 'okay, today I'm going to cut some trees."

Spiderman last visited Frankfurt, Germany's financial capital in October 2020 when he scaled German rail Deutsche Bahn's tower.

On Tuesday, one onlooker who happened to pass by the police cordon was not convinced of Spiderman's approach to save the planet.

"I have absolutely nothing against demonstrations against climate change but to bring traffic to a standstill and to put other people in danger might not be the best of ideas," said the bearded man who refused to give his name.
